A walk for women who are seeking asylum, are displaced, or have refugee status. We prefer people to attend without children; please contact us if this is not possible. ‘Walk-and-Catch’ will start at Rainbow Haven’s doorstep on Wednesday 17th May at 10am, following a route into Debdale Park, past reservoirs and woodland. The catch element will involve soft balls. Examples of ball games we will play in the park as we walk-catch-walk together are: ‘form a circle, catch the ball and call the name of the catcher’; ‘juggling’; and ‘throw a question with the ball’. This gentle introduction to ball skills will also encourage physical confidence, language skills, and laughter. The walking group will return to Rainbow Haven at around 12 noon where lunch will be offered (this is also where toilets are provided). We piloted a walk with balls during half term which was successful in enabling the women to enjoy movement whilst having fun.
