Partington walk 2: Redbrook Trail

0.8 miles long

Route description

The somewhat isolated community of Partington may not be an obvious location for walking, but there are at least three worthwhile routes worth exploring around the village.

A short but worthwhile route is the Redbrook Trail. This lies on land owned by the Your Housing Group to the south of Partington housing estate. The Redbrook Trail is situated within a 5.8-acre site with 650 metres of pedestrian paths that run through beautiful stretches of woodland with areas of wildflowers. The land here is home to a wide variety of birds and mammals. During 2019, work was undertaken by local volunteers to tidy up and refresh the trail, under the auspices of the National Trust’s “Green Academies” Project.

As a there-and-back route, the main walk is just 0.8 miles / 1.3 km long. It  can be extended by walking north from the trail access point along Warburton Road (A6144), crossing the road carefully, and taking the clear path eastwards towards and into Cross Lane Park.

The downloadable map shows the Redbrook Trail and some nearby connecting paths.

Accessibility and facilities

To the best of our knowledge, the route is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs, though we believe there are plans to create accessible paths in future.

There are no public toilets on the route but the centre of Partington with its shops and other services is nearby.
