The Tree Trail has been designed as a web-based app which can be used by anyone with a smartphone or handheld device by visiting the website uom.treetrail.co.uk
There are three distinct trails with more than 50 trees to discover spread across the University’s Oxford Road Campus and North Campus as well as Whitworth Park.
Visit the apple tree descended from the one under which Isaac Newton apparently sat when he conceived his theory of gravity, find the tree where the nectar is so delicious that bees can fall to the ground intoxicated and learn why the Romans planted walnuts.
Share your own tree photos on Instagram with @UoMSust and help them to document how the trees change through the seasons.
Maps can also be downloaded and printed.
The initiative is part of the University’s Campus Masterplan: a ten-year project creating world-class facilities for staff, students and visitors to enjoy, including the creation of Brunswick Park in the campus’ centre.
Visit the Tree Trail website to take part.
