Welcome to Bolton Ramblers. We are part of the national Ramblers organisation that campaigns to keep footpaths open and available for all. In addition to organising numerous walks we are also involved in path maintenance.
Our Footpath Liaison officer works with the Bolton MBC to scrutinize all planning applications in which there are issues with the local Rights of Way.
The Bolton Ramblers Group also organise a monthly maintenance programme for footpaths in the Bolton area.
You are very welcome to try our walks; with the exception of the coach rambles there is no cost to attend
We offer walks throughout Greater Manchester and beyond. Coach trips often take us to the Lakes or Derbyshire.
There is a large variety of walks ranging from 4/5 mile mile walks to strenuous 12 mile walks.
We have walks to suit all ages of walkers that are confident of walking at least 4/5 miles. Unless otherwise agreed with the walk leader we do not allow dogs (other than assistance dogs) and children must be accompanied.

Our walks
Shorter walks:
Our Car & Coach Rambles are organised for the first Saturday of each month. Shorter Local Footpath Walks using the wealth of footpaths in the Bolton area are organised on the second Sunday of each month.
These shorter walks are almost always accessible by public transport and provide a great way to get into walking as well as exploring the countryside in and around Bolton.
Longer walks:
Longer local walks of between 9-12 miles on the 3rd weekend. Also weekly brisk walks of 4-5 miles each Thursday starting from Horwich Leisure Centre* and Summer evening walks.
* On the third Thursday of the month we start our walk from a different location within 20 minutes drive of Horwich.
