Welcome to the walking group at The Salvation Army – Openshaw. We are a small informal group and we welcome everyone of any age and ability.
Our walks and other activities
Once a month on a Wednesday (usually 2nd or 3rd of the month) we meet at The Salvation Army on Lime Square in Openshaw, M11 1DA at 10.15am and take a relaxed stroll up the canal to Fairfield Marina, get a cup of tea and walk back.
It’s a fairly flat canal towpath, but there is a cobbled section and a couple of narrow entrances making it difficult for wheelchairs and wide buggies.
The walk is about 2 miles long, but we break halfway for a visit to a cafe. We will also adapt our speed to whoever is walking, so there’s never any rush!
Our walk is suitable for beginners.
