A short and leisurely walk from Manchester Youth Hostel exploring Castlefield Basin, learning about the role of the canals in the city’s history. It’s flat and easy walking along towpaths and paved surfaces, plus we’ll have plenty of stops, so it’s perfect for a sociable stroll to improve your health and enjoy some sightseeing at the same time. It’s organised by YHA, a charity that operates a network of hostels in England and Wales, offering affordable accommodation and promoting travel, adventure and cultural experiences. The walk will be led by an expert from Canal & River Trust, the UK’s largest canal charity, looking after 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England and Wales.
