Welcome to Tameside Ramblers

Founded in 2013, Tameside Ramblers forms part of the Greater Manchester and High Peak Area of the Ramblers (formerly known as the Ramblers Association), which is Britain’s walking charity.

Our walks

We offer circular walks all over Greater Manchester and further afield on most Wednesdays and Saturdays. See our walks programme for upcoming events.

To join Tameside Ramblers, you need to join the Ramblers which you can do either online at or by phone on 020 3961 3300. Whichever method you chose, be sure to select Tameside Ramblers as the group you wish to join. Once you become a member, you can walk with any Ramblers group in the country. You will also receive the quarterly Walk magazine and you can obtain discounts at most high street outdoor gear retailers.

Non-members can join us on up to three walks before being required to join the group. Take a look at the walks programme and select a walk you like the sound of. Turn up at the designated start point in good time, and introduce yourself to the walk leader. If you require some advice before deciding on a walk, e.g. to check how hard it is, or what you need to bring, etc, then contact the walk leader.

If getting to the start point is difficult, for example if the programme states there is no public transport and car sharing is recommended, then email our Walks Co-ordinator, who may be able to help.
