This is the second of three walks offered by the Manchester Pedestrian Club in this Festival, and the middle-length, at 7.5 miles, flat. It takes the course of a newly opened path around the edge of Lindow Common, with a dozen points of interest about the area and the community that used to live there, including Quaker and other historic halls, recently discovered 16th century Puritan graveyard, traditional peat cutting, peat restoration project, and site of Lindow Man found preserved in the bog, etc.
Start: 11:00 am. Lindow Common Carpark, Racecourse Road, Wilmslow, SK9 5LR, opposite Hickory’s Smokehouse Boddington Arms. . 1.2 m from Wilmslow Station. Trains: 10:06 am from Manchester Piccadilly, arrive Wilmslow Station 10:30 am, walk or taxi 1.2 m to start.
The carpark is also the finishing point. Refreshments after the walk to be confirmed
