This gentle community walk is organised by the Canal & River Trust, whose mission is to make life better by water. Through our work, we protect, care for, and promote the waterways so people can enjoy healthier, happier lives connected to nature and community.
Led by Adam Walker, Regional Engagement Coordinator for East Manchester, the walk aims to bring people together in a relaxed and inclusive environment. It supports this year’s theme by encouraging reflection, conversation, and connection while experiencing the wellbeing benefits of time spent beside the water.
The route is approximately 1 mile and offers easy access for all, making it suitable for people of all ages and abilities. We will begin at Lock house 18 on Droylsden Marina, follow the towpath via Copperas Fields, and then return to the Lock House. We’ll round things off with a warm brew and biscuits, a simple moment to unwind, chat, and build community spirit.
As the Canal & River Trust, we believe that by caring for our waterways and inviting people to enjoy them, we truly do make life better by water. This walk is one of the many ways we help local communities connect with the blue and green spaces on their doorstep.
