Grants of up to £5,000 have been distributed (2020-22) through Salford CVS on behalf of 10GM to support walking activities across our region.
The fund aims to improve the health and wellbeing of communities in Greater Manchester by encouraging people who are usually less active to walk regularly. It also hopes to increase awareness of, and engagement with, the GM Walking campaign across the city region in recognition of the important role walking can play in increasing physical activity levels.
Guided by the Active Lives data, the grants were given to organisations working with communities that may be less active or inactive, including people with disabilities or long-term health conditions, people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and people from lower socio-economic groups.
The fund was also particularly keen to support organisations and projects that are linking in with the health and care system.
Now that this round of funding has come to a close, we’ll be sharing some stories of the amazing work that the funded projects have been doing. Keep checking back here to find out more.
We’re also in the process of planning another round of the GM Walking Fund for 2023. We’ll share full details of how you can apply for the fund as soon as we can so keep checking our GM Walking website and our social media.
