Monthly ‘Sunday Stroll’ in the immediate vicinity of Sholver and Moorside in Oldham hosted by Sholver Travel Futures (a group of local volunteers working together to improve travel options in the community inc active travel, public transport, and associated spaces such as streets, pavements, and car parks).
We want to showcase the outstanding nature and plethora of countryside footpaths in our area, and provide an opportunity for locals to get active, get social, and get involved.
Our walks
We typically have a short walk, share lunch at Sholver Community Centre, have a natter and chat about ideas to improve local travel and projects STF are currently undertaking. We welcome all ages and abilities and are always keen to see new faces!
Strolls tend to be short and easy (<1mi, <45min), but we occasionally venture off-path and travel up to 2.5mi – attendees are also encouraged make their own route suggestions for the following month. In future we hope to expand to accommodate more intermediate ability countryside walks of around 5mi.
Walks to suit
Beginners, families, those looking to meet new people and connect with their community.
RSVP is necessary so be sure to let us know group numbers and any dietary requirements before you come along. Get in touch for further information, we look forward to seeing you soon!
