Walk for Health – Trafford

Welcome to Walk for Health – Trafford

Walk for Health – Trafford is an organisation run by local volunteers, in partnership with Walking for Health, Trafford CCG, Public Health Trafford and Sale Sports Club. Our walks are promoted by local surgeries, but anyone can join in: you don’t have to have a specific health problem and it doesn’t matter what size, shape or age you are!

Our wellbeing walks range from 45 – 90 mins and are suitable both for those wishing to start walking, or those wanting to improve their fitness, meet new people and discover open spaces in their local area. All walks are led by a trained walk leader, who will discuss any individual needs at the start of the walk, and plan support as necessary.

Walking is a great way of getting the recommended 30 mins moderate exercise a day, 5 days a week – without needing any special skills or having to buy expensive kit.

Contact details

The walks offered are FREE and do not require booking. Just turn up on the day and enjoy yourself. All you need is a comfortable pair of shoes and clothing suitable for the weather!

To see our current walks, with dates and locations, visit this web page. For more details, including date, time and meeting place, just click on the name of the walk you are interested in. We expect to start walks in other parts of Trafford in the near future.

If you want to join a walk or volunteer to help lead walks, you can also contact the Trafford scheme co-ordinator, Dave Walmsley, by email at dave@dwalmsley.co.uk or by phone on 0161-282 8154.

Note that walkers will be asked to complete a short registration form.

Walking for Health

Walking for Health is England’s largest network of health walks with over 360 active walking schemes, helping people across the country lead a more active lifestyle. We’ve done this with great success for over 14 years, improving the mental and physical well-being of thousands of people.

Our walks are short and over easy terrain, and are open to everyone but are especially aimed at those who are least active.

Many of our walkers start walking to improve their health, but find it easy to keep coming back because of all the new friends they’ve made. So as well as all the physical health benefits, Walking for Health is also great for your social life!
