We’re back for our third CyanLines guided walk with Jonathan Schofield, to explore Manchester’s regenerated places, parks and blue spaces.
Gear up to explore Manchester’s coolest districts and greenest spaces in our next CyanLines CL2 walk led by historian and nature tour leader, Jonathan Schofield.
Walk a CyanLine – Mayfield Park, Ancoats Park, through the Northern Quarter, 3.91 miles
This loop will weave you through some of Manchester’s most loved urban regeneration projects, green and blue spaces. We’ll meet at Station Sanctuary outside Piccadilly Station, a brand new community gardening project, and take a short stroll down to the city’s first new park in over 100 years, Mayfield Park. The 6.5 acre public space, on the banks of the River Medlock, is flourishing! It boasts over 300 trees, wetland and wildflower planting and is quickly becoming a new haven for wildlife in the city. From here, we’ll meander onto Cottonfield Park and Ancoats Park – lovingly regenerated for the growing neighbourhood that surrounds it. Beyond the green spaces, Jonathan will lead us through the historical heart of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter – vibrant creative districts packed with cool independent cafes, bars and restaurants, including the restored Victorian marketplace, Mackie Mayor food hall. Kampus in the Gay Village will mark our last stop on the tour.
The nature and community-rich green and blue route is nearly 4 miles long and will start and end at Station Sanctuary outside Piccadilly Station.
