Meet Community Champions and walk leaders Dawn and Ola who will guide you on one of their favourite walks at the Northern Roots site in Oldham.
The Northern Roots charity is creating an urban farm & eco park on 160-acres of urban greenspace. The site is a haven for wildlife and birds, features a mix of moorland, woodland and seasonal wetlands, and is a Site of Biological Importance.
The guided walk on 11th May is part of the ‘Beautiful Oldham – Why Not?’ project, inspired by pioneering conservationist, social reformer and Oldham resident Mary Higgs.
Find out more about the Northern Roots project, history and environment as you join Dawn and Ola on this leisurely 2.8 km walk to explore a beautiful urban green space in the heart of Oldham.
We’ll be celebrating heritage, community and the environment all through May with a range of activities on offer. The project will culminate in a free, family-friendly community event on May 26th.
