Peak District Mosaic is a community-focused charity. The aim of the walk is to create and sustain engagement between the National Park and new audiences including diverse communities.
We would invite participants to bring along a packed lunch, water and any personal medication they might need on the day. All attendees would be asked to wear appropriate clothing including waterproof provision and sun hats. Children are welcome on the walk but must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times. Participants also need to declare health conditions that will impact their ability to participate in this walk.
The walk will be led by one of PDM’s trustees and Peak District National Park Ranger Volunteer – Manhar, starting from the Indian Community Centre (103 Union Road) in Ashton-under-Lyne at 10am, for a 10.30am start. Between 10am – 10.30am participants will be asked to register and can have hot/cold refreshments and use the toilet facilities. The walk would be finishing at roughly 1pm, back at the Indian Centre. There is parking at the Indian Centre and good public transport links.
The walk includes a pretty lake surrounded by peaceful woodland. There’s nice footpaths (mostly flat and easy going) with lots of flora and fauna to see including butterflies and great spotted woodpecker.
The walk will allow participants to take a mindful amble in the great outdoors, meet like-minded friends and engage with our charity Peak District Mosaic. The walk is not wheelchair accessible, and although this route is easy going, some people with limited mobility might struggle to complete it.
Booking is essential – we have maximum for 20 people on this walk to meet our health and safety policy.
