GM Walking are delighted to announce that the next phase of the GM Walking and Wheeling Fund is now open for applications.
Supported and administered by Salford CVS and Macc, the fund empowers and facilitates community groups to embed more walking and wheeling (e.g. using a wheelchair/mobility aid or pushing a pram) throughout Greater Manchester this autumn and winter.
Walking and wheeling are very accessible which is why we’re determined to give everyone the opportunity for it to become a normal part of moving that bit more in everyday life.
Small and medium grants are available to voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations to develop and deliver walking and wheeling initiatives that:
Encourage local communities to become more active by incorporating more walking and wheeling into their everyday routines
Support the recruitment of ‘walking and wheeling champions’, made up of organisations, community members and volunteers
Are designed with long-term sustainability in mind.
Small grants of up to £2,000 and medium grants of up to £5,000 will be available to VCSE organisations which can demonstrate their intention to work with individuals and communities that may not be already active.
In particular, we want to fund those supporting people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions, people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and people on a low or no income.
Small grants – The deadlines to apply for a small grant are 12pm on Friday 20 October, Friday 10 November, and Friday 1 December 2023. Decisions are expected in late November 2023.
Medium grants – The deadline to apply for a medium grant is 12pm, Monday 6 November 2023. Decisions are expected in late November 2023.
All projects must be completed by 31 March, 2024.
