Welcome to Manchester & Salford Ramblers

If you live in or around Manchester and Salford, and enjoy hiking/walking, then this is your group.

Manchester and Salford Ramblers is a long-established walking group. We are one of almost 500 groups across the country that are part of The Ramblers, a charitable organisation of 100,000+ members, whose goal it is to promote the enjoyment and benefits of walking and to protect and enhance where we walk. Within the Ramblers, we are a member group of the Greater Manchester and High Peak Area.

We are an inclusive group and welcome all on our walks. New members are always welcome!

Our group helps local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. We offer a varied programme of regular walks taking advantage of the excellent walking country in and around Manchester and Salford. You’re very welcome to try walking with us, or to get involved in looking after paths and green spaces and opening up new places to explore.

Our walks

Walks are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays. Monday walks are short and start at 11.00am. All Tuesday and Saturday walks start at 10.30 unless otherwise stated and are normally 5- 6 miles, but we have added some longer walks into our programme – so please check details carefully. In the summer we also have some evening walks.

Walks are normally near public transport so we can include as many people as possible.

As well as walks, we offer regular social activities and we also have a couple of weekends away each year in a youth hostel.

Details of our upcoming walks can be found on our walks web page.
