MCR Strollers

Description

The MCR Strollers was set up in 2010 as a lunchtime walking group for the health and wellbeing of staff, students and the local community, and our walks are led by trained volunteers from the University of Manchester.

Boroughs:

We offer lunchtime walks in areas around the University of Manchester campus and Manchester’s Oxford Road Corridor. This includes routes and green spaces around Ardwick, Hulme, Victoria Park, Whitworth Park, the Rochdale Canal and more!

Our walks aim to incorporate local green spaces, places of historical or horticultural interest, local charities and community projects to keep the walks varied and engaging. Our target from summer 2021 is to have at least one lunchtime walk a week and long term to explore weekend walking options.

The walks range from 30 minute circular strolls to 60-70 minute faster paced walks which are indicated in advance. We have had special walks that have last up to two hours. In general our average walks are 45 minutes and are paced about 2.8 miles per hour that accommodates stops to look at points of interest.

Our walks suit all abilities – we are very welcoming! We have strollers who just enjoy the occasional short and easy stroll to those who regularly hike at weekends. Join our walks if you enjoy meeting people, love the outdoors, and local history.

Get in touch for further information and register for our weekly Strollers Update via our email or social media. Our Strollers Update contains walking inspiration and positive news stories. We look forward to welcoming you soon…!
