Saddleworth Pedestrians

1 of 3

Saddleworth Pedestrians known affectionately to its friends as “The Peds” was formed in 1970 and we currently have a membership of about 100, from in and around the Saddleworth area. We are affilated with The Ramblers Association.

Our members represent a broad range of backgrounds and interests but have a common enthusiasm for walking and hiking and a keen and informed concern for our countryside.

Interested? Why not be our guest on one or two walks – you’ll be most welcome. Then if you enjoy them you can become a member.

Walks to suit

For guidance, ‘A’ walks are 10+ miles can be quite strenuous, covering rough terrain and out for most of the day, but still time for a pub visit!

‘B’ walks are 8 -10 miles, Moderate, not quite as hard core as the A’s and usually back by mid afternoon.

‘C’ walks are up to 5 -7 miles, shorter and more leisurely. Cream tea’s /pub lunches often included.

Although we use private transport, lifts are usually available for those who need them and for this reason we always meet at Lees library before travelling to the start of the walk.

When

The walks are all lead by club members on most Sundays of the year and offer several ability levels. For full details of the Sunday walks, summer evening walks, weekends away and other social events please refer to the walks programme page on our website.

Locations

In addition to walking in the Saddleworth area we often travel farther afield to Derbyshire, Yorkshire and the south Lancashire Pennines.
