Trafford Walkers – who we are

We are a small and friendly walking club, established over 25 years ago, and based in and around the borough of Trafford. We are affiliated to the the national walking charity, The Ramblers. In addition to our walks, we offer coach trips in the Summer months and, in December, a Christmas walk followed by a meal. We also have occasional pub evenings and quizzes. Our Annual General Meeting, open to all members, takes place in November.

Our walks generally take place around Greater Manchester, including Cheshire, Lancashire and Derbyshire. Occasionally we travel further into Staffordshire and Yorkshire.

Our walks

We walk every weekend, alternating Saturdays and Sundays, with most starting in the morning and continuing into the afternoon after a lunch stop. Most of our walks are Intermediate/Moderate and are of duration 6-8 miles though, over the year there will be some that are easier/ shorter and some that are harder/ longer e.g. up to 10 miles. We have a mixture of both urban and rural walks; in general we do not walk in arduous terrain but nor do we concentrate on only flat land; expect to encounter undulating fields and small hills. Since the COVID pandemic, we have made our way to the start of the walks in private cars but we may be able to arrange lifts for those without transport. Driving directions are provided.

On summer coach trips, we normally offer 3 walks representing different levels of difficulty and duration.

We are happy to welcome new members whether you are an experienced walker, a walker in the past who wishes to start again or if you wish to increase your fitness level.
