Walking and Talking at Ladybarn Park

1 of 3

Each week a group of older people meet in Ladybarn Park. Supported by two volunteers, the group of 10-15 walk around the park together, using walking poles where necessary and with a volunteer arm if needed. Referred by their GP at Ladybarn Group practice, through Withington Assist, Ladybarn hub or word of mouth, they meet in rain or shine, and go for a tea/coffee afterwards at a local café.

Walking and talking can make a big difference to your life and to your health. It can be fun and it is a chance to socialise and meet new people whilst also keeping healthy.

The group meets every Wednesday morning at 10:30 am, meeting at the park gate on the corner of Briarfield and Parrs Wood Rd. The walks are suitable for 65+ and all ages are welcome. Walks will be approximately one hour and there will be refreshments provided. There’s no need to book, just come along!

I’ve been coming over 12 months, started in February last year. I got a text message from my GP. I just went along and met the volunteers, Pauline and Rose, the two ladies in charge. I try to go every week- not always possible but try to go most weeks. I get some exercise that I wouldn’t normally get.
