Welcome to Wigan & District Ramblers

Wigan & District Ramblers are one of the 13 Ramblers groups in the  Greater Manchester and High Peak Area, attracting members from Wigan, Leigh and the surrounding area.

We are part of the Ramblers, a nationwide charity whose aims are to promote walking for health, pleasure and an appreciation of our wonderful countryside.

New members are always welcome!

Our walks

Wigan & District Ramblers organise walks 12 months a year. These include family footpath walks, 4, 8 and 12-mile coach rambles, and longer rambles. Click here to see our forthcoming programme of walks.

Our local footpath walks are easy rambles in and around Wigan of 3½ – 4½ miles. They start at 14:00 and finish around 16:15 to 16:30 or a little earlier in winter. These are free of charge. The local footpath walks are an ideal way to introduce new members and to discover miles of footpaths around Wigan, which you might never have walked before.

Our coach rambles are usually split into two groups, one group walking for 4 – 5 miles and the other group walking 8 miles. The coach rambles cost £11 for members and £14 for non-members.
