Overview

The Saddleworth Village Trails are a great way to explore the historic villages of Saddleworth and learn more about the history of the area. Dobcross village used to be the site of numerous cattle fairs. It had its own private bank and can claim fame to being the birthplace of the Platt Brothers textile machinery business.

This walk explores some of the historical features of the Dobcross area and offer fine views over the landscape. Both the medium and long trail include some ascents and descents as they explore the surroundings of the village.

Accessibility and facilities

Because of the mixed terrain involved, this route is not rated as suitable for wheelchair-users and families with pushchairs. There are toilets and cafes at the Brownhill Countryside Centre and pubs along the route.
